Best Street Foods of Chandigarh: Part 2 of 2

Welcome to part 2 of 2 of this series, which includes some of my personal favorites. There are many eateries offering pocket friendly food from the city of Chandigarh, but I have made this humble attempt to list out where I have been personally, tasted the grub, and wish that you too will visit soon !!!

Some of the hidden gems to explore on a trip to The City Beautiful are :

Garg Chaat, Sector-23
Please visit this place on an empty stomach since the crunch of the snacks will drive you crazy for more. The hot favorite is the crunchy crust holding the spicy water or creamy sauce that is the Golgappa!!!!
The taste is amazing here, and mind it, if you are a first timer here, it might get a little frustrating to wait for your turn. But once you have your first bite, you’re your craving will increase driving you to be part of the next line-up. Its mainly snacks based menu, with a choice between dry items and others. However, the ultimate is availability of every known chaat, pakodi, and Gol Gappa, all under one roof.

Note to the reader – Look no further, if you are a spice and snack buff!!!

Cost for One: Less than 100 INR

Classic 44, Sector - 37C
People from faraway towns come down to this place to check out the legendary flavor of the Chicken Patty. This delicacy is freshly cooked and packed here. There is no sitting though; just give your order, take your patties and go home to relish the stuff with drinks. Its not only the amazing flavor but also its affordability too with starting price for any meal being as low as INR 40!!!

So, do not forget to get your patties packed before starting your tour of the City Beautiful!
The outside crunch along with the juicy flesh inside, is definitely going to make your drool for more of this Chicken Patty!

Bholey Di Hattey, Sector-44
Rajma (Kidney Beans) is one of the most wanted Punjabi curries. This spice based dark gravy with steamed rice will swell your tummy, but make your heart still crave  for more. That is what you will feel once you visit this place since most of the patrons say every time they come here. The portions are generous, and there are other Indian curries also available but the best is the lovely Rajma rice. Price and taste wise, it’s a totally awesome deal!

Cost for 2: INR 150 (approx.)
Timing: 8 AM to 10 PM

Brick Firewood Pizza, Zirakpur
Simply Stylish is the word I would pick to describe Brick Firewood Pizza. The place is ranked amongst some best pizza places in town. Perfectly baked crust with hot melted cheese erupting like lava from a volcano, but that's not it. Do you know what the best part is? All these delighted dishes start from a base price of 100! People of Chandigarh worship the place because it is as crowded as a temple.

You will find a rush of new customers becoming regular invitees the next day, try a bite and be one too.

Cost for 2: INR 200
Timings: 11 AM to 10:30 PM

The Indian Coffee House
Entering this place takes one back to the days of the Colonial Era of British India. This vintage place has a South Indian menu and is the best in it. They sell all types of authentic South Indian food.
The well-dressed waiters (white and red uniform), Bone china crockery, low prices but quality coffee and milkshakes and tons of room to talk, as they do not ask you to leave when you have finished eating, makes the place ideally social.

Earlier, the outlets were poorly managed but this one is an upgrade, and you would love it!

Cost for 2: INR 200 (approx.)
Timing: 9 AM to 10 PM

Pal Dhaba, Sector 28D

Sarson da Saag and Makki di Roti is like chocolate pudding for a Punjabi, except pudding is no competition!

Pal Dhaba is the best place to have this delicacy in a perfect blend. Eating here is like climbing a ladder of joy, with each bite you take, you go one step up. The extra butter on your plate defines the Punjabi Pride and your first bite will make you gently shut your eyes in the bliss of flavour.

If you are planning a trip to Chandigarh, don't even try to ignore the place, unless you want to repeat the same trips next year!

Cost for 2: INR 700 (approx.)
Timings: 11 AM to 11 PM

Amritsari Kulcha Hub

Amritsari Kulcha is the dish with demand as large as the appetite of the entire country. You just can't ignore it!!!!
The stuffed Kulcha is served with spicy Chole, with an unforgettable aroma, but what makes the dish worth a dime is its stuffing, mashed potato or cottage cheese is glazed in masala, and cooked after stuffing on a traditional Tawa, makes the true Punjabi happy!

Cost for 2: INR 200 (approx.)
Timings: 9 PM to 4 AM
